The opening scene is an engaging introduction into the rehearsal room where Arden is late because of an interview on 60 Minutes, pushy new soprano Tatyana Bakst is trying to convince Winnie to let her sing Arden’s part, stage manager Roane is flitting around keeping things under control, and conductor Eric Gold is becoming increasingly exasperated with the singers.

Critics called The Dallas Opera's Tosca a "safe", "conventional" choice, but the classic production had its own beauty. My sister Allison and I (she attending a live opera for the first time, I for the third) were enthralled with the drama and over-the-top passion that have characterized opera for so long.
